The Applecross Pass is the third highest road in Scotland and has some absolutely breathtaking scenery on its route.
It was originally a cattle drovers route and was formally turned into a mountain road in 1822. It features tight hairpin bends that switch back an forth and steep gradients approaching 20%.
It is often closed in winter so driving this road is better suited to summer months.
